Harvest Festival/ Hope4 Charity
Thank you to all of the children who brought tins in for our harvest assembly. The tins were donated to the Hope4 charity, a local charity which works with homeless and badly housed people in Rugby. Pete from the charity came into school on Thursday, 13th October 2011 to talk to the children, in assembly, about the work Hope4 do and how their tins would be distributed.
Recent charities our pupils have supported include the Roald Dahl Children's Charity, Myton Hospice, Cancer Research, NSPCC, Blue Peter 'Send a Smile' Campaign, WWF, Cord, , UNICEF, Christian Aid, DEC Haiti earthquake appeal, DEC Pakistan flood appeal and Children In Need.
Christmas shoebox appeal
This year, children at Dunchurch Junior School have once again filled shoeboxes with gifts for Operation Christmas child. Operation Christmas Child is an initiative of the Samaritan's Purse charity, which works with churches, schools, orphanages and other non-governmental organisations to hand deliver the shoeboxes to children in need in Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, regardless of their background or beliefs. Thanks to the support of parents and children we have managed to collect more than 130 shoeboxes.
