Boys Into Books

On Thursday the 13th of November 2008 Mrs Ballard from Warwickshire Children’s Library Services came into school to run a special book group with 6 year 5 boys. Before half term the boys were given a copy of Cosmic by Frank Cottrell Boyce to read, and during the morning session they had opportunity to discuss the book and their opinion on it.
The boys also took part in lots of games and activities relating to reading. One of the activities involved them eating pages made from rice paper and icing words inspired by a book called ‘The boy who ate books’.
The boys had a fantastic morning and are now planning to set up their own book discussion group… called the Book Eating Group. The morning was run as part of the National Year of Reading and the Boys into Books scheme.
