Musical Instrument Tuition Back
The school offers group tuition in keyboard, recorder, drums, guitar, violin, cello, woodwind, percussion and brass. This is provided by visiting teachers from the County Music Service (CMS) and takes place during school hours, including break and lunchtimes. Individual tuition can sometimes be arranged -please enquire at the school office.
In the Summer term, all pupils are invited to sign up for instrumental tuition starting in September. We cannot guarantee places until our tuition hours are confirmed by CMS.
Children may take up musical instrument lessons throughout the school year, subject to there being spaces available. If they cannot start immediately, it may be possible to start the following term (as the school has to book lessons with CMS in advance).
When arrangements have been made for your child to have lessons, you will be send a contract to read, sign and return to school. To read the current music contract, click here.
If there are no spaces, your child will be placed on a waiting list and we will inform you when spaces become available.
There is a charging policy for specialist tuition. Fees, payable to ‘Warwickshire County Council’, are currently £42 per term for group tuition, £64 for individual tuition and £1.50 per week – paid termly – for recorders (the price for each term's recorder lessions will be in the school newsletter at the end of the previous term). Fees should be paid within the first two weeks of each term. However, no pupil will be excluded on the grounds of financial hardship, and arrangements may be made to pay in installments. Please contact the school office if you wish to discuss payments.
A full half term's written notice to terminate lessons must be given. e.g. to terminate lessons after Easter notice should be given before the Spring half-term. Alternatively, you may pay half a term's fees in lieu of notice.
An instrument (other than keyboard or drum set) will be provided free of charge in the first year by County Music Service / school (subject to availability). After the first year, it may be possible (subject to availability) to hire an instrument from school, paid for on a termly basis. Otherwise, pupils will be required to provide their own instruments which can, if preferred, be purchased through school on a VAT free basis. It is advisable for the keyboard pupils to have a keyboard at home on which to practise.
